Dangerous Chemicals in Our Food?

The Federal Drug Administration(FDA) has a job to monitor our country’s food supply. We put our trust in the FDA to look out for our health and have our best interest in mind. If this is the case, then why have dangerous chemicals been found in our food?

The recent news that Subway uses the dangerous chemical azodicarbonamide in their breads, has brought this serious topic to the forefront of social media. I have recently found an article that reviews 5 dangerous chemicals that are used in common foods. Those chemicals are:

  1. Propylene glycol
  2. Castoreum
  3. TBHQ
  4. Dimethylpolysiloxane
  5. Caramel coloring

Some of these chemicals are found in antifreeze, shoe polish, brake fluid breast implants, and hair conditioners. Some have also been shown to cause cancer, aggravate ADHD symptoms, and linked to DNA damage.
